I would never even think about holding and moving a frame around a bench grinder to remove the paint. I have angle grinders of various sizes for doing something like that.
The white on head tube came off with one application leaving the black bonderizing material. I suspect this has been the same with the black paint, it just wasn't as obvious.
So the bike was black with white trim at the head? Looking at the inside of the head tube I'd guess that frame had the old fashion English paint dip and possibly baked. The white trim was shot on afterwards and doubt they baked that paint afterwards.
NICE JOB !!!
I have the same open grinder only with a 10" wheel. It's amazing what that thing can do. & quickly to. Much more powerful then a hand drill with lil wire brushes. I will also try it on my frames see how your looks. Thanks for showing
