In 1955 there was a Hornet and a Deluxe Hornet, both were balloon models. S-2's with 2.125 tires.
In 1956 there was a Hornet middleweight with S-7 rims and a Hornet Deluxe that was a Balloon model.
Like I said earlier, the serial number would have told me everything I needed. Is it a middleweight or a Balloon model? The Spitfire head badge tells me it's a 1955 or a 1956.
Had a chance to tinker in the garage today, the front tire on the Hornet is 26 x 2.125 and the rear is 26 x 2.175. Took a shot of the SN and wiped it down with soapy water, there is still a shine to the paint.
