Brake system “Need Help finding the year”!!!

So I got this brake system looking into the year of them also where they used on balloon tire bicycle. Any help or input would be great appreciate.

Partly a guess but roughly 1940 to 1950. At least I have seen them on that era of bikes. Roger

They were on quite a few of the middleweight Schwinn American bikes in the mid 50's along with the Bendix manual 2 speed.

That brake system is on this 57 American

I am not sure that these were ever factory but were an accessory sold by dealers back when. Roger
