Brooks Olympic Ideale Marco saddles

-

prewarmachine

Wore out three sets of tires already!
Stumbled onto a few old leather saddles. Just trying to gather some information and maybe some general value to them. Really just have no experience with seats like this. Any info would be really appreciated!
1. Olympic with Wrights badge
2. Brooks B72 stamped B 73 on frame
3. Brooks B66
4. Ideale stamped on rivets
5. Plastic S. Marco

Look for what they sell for on E-Bay and hope you can get 75% of that. Saddles like underwear are very individual choices so you will have to find someone who likes a given saddle. I like Brooks saddles but am not fond of the ones you have. There is nothing wrong with them but they fo not fit my tush. Roger

The Wrights is choice. For the most part, the others look pretty tired.
The tush factor is fitting the correct saddle to the riding position of the bike.
We've got a life with leather saddles discussion going on Lightweights - the thread doesn't stand out, it's titled 65 years.

Thanks for the input guys! All foreign territory for me. Bulldog1935, I think I saw that thread. Didn't want to drop my picture bomb in there though haha
Are people still interested in saddles of this condition or would it be best for me to put on some occasional riders I have and just call it a day?

The Ideale will Always be collectible, especially narrow racing saddles - riding would risk destroying its monetary value to collectors.
The Wrights/Olympic is in such good condition (get out the Obenauf's), is collectible and belongs on a nice English Roadster - as I said, a choice saddle.
A San Marco that age, plastic or not is collectible - probably could ride it, and looks good.
The Brooks looks rotted through and riding would destroy what's left of it.

If the Brooks has no rips and the leather isn't dry enough to crack easily, it probably still has a lot of riding life in it, as well as already being broken in.

I've saved far worse saddles and rode them for many years.

there are apparently 2 Brooks saddles there - the same conditions that rusted the entire frame mildewed and rotted the leather.
If you ride it, the missing rips in the leather will suddenly appear.
