Finally riding a big boys bike
I am considering selling this old Bradway bicycle made by W.T. Bradway in Richmond, Indiana. I was told by the former owner that this was a personal bicycle of the builder and that it was acquired from his estate in 1949. She said that it was built in 1909. I would have thought it was a little later but maybe. The bike has ghisallo rims and a musselman coaster brake both of which are later than the frame, but if it was his personal bike it makes sense that things were updated through the years.

I still may keep it and restore it but I have too many projects and wanted to see if anybody had interest in it. I will consider early bike trades (I might even pay boot for right trade). I am also glad to hear cash offers but I can't give it away so be reasonable.

Thanks and God Bless,

Col. Joshua A Powers

I received some limited information from the Wayne County Historical Society about W.T. Bradway that I thought I would pass on. He worked for the Richmond Bicycle Co. before leaving to form his own company. After his company folded, he opened a bicycle and roller skate shop in his home. He won a local one mile bicycle race in 1898; time 2 min 26 sec. In July, 1910 his wife sued for divorce on the grounds of poverty. The court report is sort of funny. Judge Fox declared that "Poverty is no grounds for divorce." When the defendant (Mr. Bradway) was on the stand he said that he did not give his wife any pin-money because he did not have any to spare. His obituary dated Dec. 14, 1949 states that "At one time, Mr. Bradway had made bicycles, and for the past 50 years he has repaired bicycles and roller skates.

That is pretty much all the information that the Historical society in his home town has regarding him. They do have one of his bicycles in their collection.
