Can this old rusty S2 be fixed

I have this old rusty pair of 26 in S2 rims but the rear has this damage that won’t allow the tire to mount . Rims look bad but are still solid . It’s strange you can’t see damage from the side and it’s not flat spotted , the one pic shows outside shot of the damaged area .

My guess is that water got in the rim and froze. You might be able to beat it back down, but it will be tricky to do without going too far.

S2's are plentiful enough. I wouldn't use it.

Give it an oxalic acid (OA) bath and see what happens.

Update I work aviation so I used I rivet gun with I brass set and was able to get it good enough , I have a tire mounted on it now with no problems bead looks good

Good luck,I'd scrap it. Too many deep pits and scales on the inside
