Finally riding a big boys bike
I found this Artifact on Craigslist for 75 bucks . I cant find any markings except a 60 on the adjusting wheel . This thing operates smooth as butter , and was built to last .

odd that it appears to have no markings whatsoever

somewhat reminiscent of the Desimone's repair stands which were manufactured in San Jose, California for several decades

they were what many shops employed prior to the launch of Park in 1969

Pool noodle might not last too long, how about that black foam water pipe insulation.

there might even be some on the hot water pipes in the basement just waiting to be trimmed a bit.
 
I was thinking DeSimones as well... Park replacement jaw covers are cheap and could be made to fit, or cut out some car tire sideawalls. I'd go for the Park replacements, even if they might be a little short:
