Is there a typical direction which the handlebar wedge is inserted/removed from the head of a Columbia Expert or Light Roadster ordinary? I have one that doesn't want to budge in either direction (left or right) while attempting to remove it so I wanted to make sure I was at least applying most of my effort in the correct direction.

This is an 1886 or 1887 model Columbia ordinary with typical crescent shaped handlebar wedge behind the handlebar securing the handlebar to the front fork at the head.

For everyone else's benefit, they come out the right side, so you should be hammering on the left side.
