Common axle thread pitch...

Hey all! I’m sure this has been around the block a few times. What is the common axle thread pitch size on old bikes? Since I have the capabilities to make my own hardware, it’s definitely more cost effective to make what I need when I don’t have originals. 3/8-24 and 3/8-26 I’ve seen but also some 5/16. What is the most widely used? Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks

There is no common size across the board. There might be by manufacturers but nothing universal. That is why a have odd taps and dies around my shop. Roger
