Cone nut for prewar Huffman crank

Need the adjustable cone nut for this Huffman crank set. Outer lock nut threads fine but adjustable will only go so far.

No I’m having trouble threading the nut all the way on. It goes about 3/4 of the way on the crank but then hits a wall. The outer nut will thread on fine so I think the threads are buggered on the inner nut.

Try spinning it on backwards.
May be able to catch and clean the threads up a bit.

Tried that. Even used outer nut several times to “clear“ up the path but no go....
