I got out of the Army in Mar. '64, wanted a new car, had the dough but wanted to wait to see what the '65s were offering. Needed wheels and my Dad knew the used car manager at the local Dodge dealer ("Hodges for Dodges") so went to see him. Want a cheap transportation car. "Got just the thing" Old guy had just turned in a '55 DeSoto 4 dr. sedan. Great condition, battleship gray. Had the Hemi V8. "Haven't touched it, you can have it for $130.00". Deal! I had just gotten a job at the Ford Rouge plant in Dearborn Mich. Worked midnights. Nobody ever said anything about me driving a DeSoto to that job. I quit there before I bought my brand new '65 Plymouth Satellite.
