This is an amazing story, well because we know the lady that owns this particular bike. She lived in our neighborhood. For over 20+ years, we have seen her ride her bike to and from work. As we live just outside the downtown area of Sacramento and our jobs are located near the Capitol, we typically ride our bicycles to work (unless there’s inclement weather). Unlike us, we can honestly say, she rode her bike every day inclement weather or not. Occasionally we’ll see her and wave hello. Her bike is locked around a pole of a street sign, same location every day right in front of plain view of the security desk where you enter the the building. Of course we ask about her cool old Schwinn. She told us that she has owned this bike most of her life, that she loves this bike, and that she rides it everywhere she goes.
Before the pandemic, we ran into her downtown. She was riding a modern bike, so we asked about her old Schwinn. She told us that she recently moved from our neighborhood into an apartment downtown. She parked the bike behind the gate locked. Someone stole the bike. She was so unhappy, understandingly. We felt so bad for her. Her friends all pitched in to buy her a replacement.
So to read this story by Dave
@Porkchop & Applesauce, made my day. I called both Dave and Jesus
@jesus, and told them our story. They were both flabbergasted. What a small world I told them. It was great to hear that the bike will be back with its owner this weekend. Hoping to see the two back together riding around in our downtown soon.
Kudos to Dave and Jesus for getting this old bike back to it's rightful owner. Thanks Dave for sharing this wonderful story.

While we walk from our parking garage or ride by, we would see this old Schwinn locked up same place every time.
