Corvette 59 - pedals ?

Hi guys....questions questions. Thanks in advance.

I have the correct schwinn bow pedals on my corvette 59. The chRome isn't bad but on the one side the bearing is rough.

I would like to strip and rebuild this...Im being dumb...could someone tell me how to break it? Does that end cap pop off?

the cap pops off.I use a screwdriver and gently tap with a hammer.

OK...I will have a little more confidence now and try and pop them off.

Wish I could find Pantmaker's post on this subject. Seemed to be the easier way to go if you have a vice.
