Anybody recognize this crank, has some sharp lines and had a Monark sprock?

I have one just like it Mark. It measures 6.5". I haven't been able to figure out what it is either. Monark may be a clue.

Looks very Schinnish to me. Not all Schwinn cranks had AS castings on them. Roger

Seen some lightweights Schwinns with some different angles but this has a very different shape than any others?, almost looks like a door handle of some old car.
 
The 8 in the diamond or whatever that is, may be the foundry's ID. Cool looking crank, I have never seen one like that.
