Bicycle Museum of America

Finally riding a big boys bike
Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone!

I have a quick question for the CABE. A patron acquired this Crescent No 11 recently and wanted to know more about it. From my research it looks like the No 11 was only built in 1898, does this sound correct? If so, I have the information I need about that.

The main two questions I have are about the saddle and the tires. Judging from the catalog from 1898, the saddle looks similar, though it seems to be missing the "Crescent" logo on the side. Do you believe this is a reproduction or perhaps just a replacement, or the original? Further, the patron believes that the tires on the bicycle are not the original - but believes that the two tires pictures off of the bicycle ARE the originals. Can anyone confirm this?

Any help would be appreciated!

-Ryan

Per 1897-1900 Crescent catalogs, No. 11 was only sold 1898 as you stated.
Saddle looks similar to #139 in catalog (page 18).
Wheels and tires on the bicycle are not original to it. The wheels (rims and hubs) off the bicycle are original (figure 14) and the one tire looks period correct.
Here are relevant 1898 Crescent catalog pages.
