Davis made decal on Harley Davidson motorcyke and bikes

I don't forget too easily about things in the past especially on this site and one of the things that really stuck to my mind was the decal on the seat tube on the toc Harley bikes.. well I'm here to stop that and set it right because I had been belittled and insulted ..as well as ridiculed about making a hd from a bike that was exactly the same bike but the badge holes....well here's some pictures of traces of this decal to prove that hd did come with the hd green and black DAVIS made DECAL so this should settle it..

Surely there are some nice original paint bikes to use as reference on the Davis decal? I don't remember a controversy whether they did, or do not but my recollection of the decal is that it wasn't used on any of any davis bikes until 1918ish. Does @New Mexico Brant bike have one? How about Jerry's or Larry's? All 3 are premium examples. Or that mystery bike in Ohio that was stolen and recovered from the HD dealer?

Having a manufacturer have a decal of another manufacturer on their bike seems unlikely. These are two fantastic original examples without Davis Made decals.

Harley bikes were manufactured by Davis, not by Harley. Your pics are two nice OP examples. Brant's is similar condition and also does not have the Davis Made decal. However, that's not proof that none did.

Mark, have you taken the badge off your bike to see what the paint looks like? Cool bike, by the way!

Of course. Do you think the customers all new that when they were in store shopping? They would if a Davis Made decal was on the seat tube...

The only other decal that my 1918 model has on it, besides the Motorcycke decal on the downtube, is the small round Cycle Trade, Dealers Association decal on the upper seat tube.

Unfortunately I don’t think I have a close up of that decal on file.
I’ll try and get a good shot of it, the next time I’m out with the bike.

I prefer not to remove the badge ..these are pictures of the paint that still on the frame and fork you can see the orig black pinstriping outside but pics won't show

on the fork along with the light color of the paint also on my previous post the hanger underneath it has the original paint..I took a better pic of it...
