I just picked up this December’71 stamped standard Kool Lemon yellow Stingray. This is one that has been on my to get list. All original everything just missing the reflector. Very psyched about this bike.

As you should be.
Nice Survivor MG, nice seat tag too.

Looks very similar to cyclingday ‘73.

Any history / story, if there is one?

I can’t wait to dig into it, unfortunately no back story on this one. The seat was a question on this one. It’s with me at work hopefully I get some time this weekend to start the digging but with just a little air it looks like I’ll be peddling.

I’ve never seen a No Pat #
Plus never heard of a “long nose” lol.
All these seats measure the same, there is no long nose.

In 1967 the term “hard side” described this one year only seat that was used on various ‘67 models including the fastback.

Photos of the bottom pan will be the clue.
Looks like a possibility ‘67 hard side on this MG.
Last three pics show my ‘67 hard side Stingray seat.

I'm fairly certain it is a hard side, I will get some more pics soon. That would not be found on this bike, correct?

Thats it! A 67 hard pan / hard side has been called a "long nose" as it just seems or looks like the nose is a bit longer than the normal padded seats. You just never heard of that term "long nose" 😎
I have seen tags that just say "Made in USA" under SCHWINN & nothing about Pat Pending or Pat number on it.
