I live for the CABE
Deal or No Deal.
Presented here for auction is a very uncommon early 1893-1894 Bartlett pneumatic clincher front wheel found on Remington bicycles and others. Rim has surface rust but still maintains much of its original black finish. Hub is in dynamite shape and spins nicely. Hub shines beautifully with its original nickel finish and features its original oiler hole slide. Hub width is 3" at the flanges and 4" at the races. Spokes are soldered at the junctions and could use some cleaning. Tire is hard and solely for the purpose of display. Valve stem is no longer present. According to early ads, "Anyone making, selling or using, without authority, tires employing the principle covered by the Bartlett Patents, or using the registered Trade Mark "Clincher" unlawfully, will be held accountable by actions of law." I've made no attempt at rust removal or cleaning so I'll leave it to the next owner to decide whether to clean this wheel up further or leave as is to show some age. An exceptional early wheel that you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. Thank you for your interest and good luck.
Offer plus actual shipping in the US. Payment via PayPal family and friends is preferred.
Please review pictures closely and message me with any questions.
