Is a Colson drop stand identical or the same as the braced drop stand on a 38-39 CWC bike?
Thanks

Sort of.
I’m not sure about all years and models, but the Colson braced stand that is similar to the CWC/Roadmaster type, differs in having fixed posts that insert into the dropout plate and are secured with cotter pins.
The CWC type fastens with bolts threaded into the dropout plate.

Thank you.
Is one more difficult to find than the other?
Things will run it's course either way.
Thanks again for the clarity.

There are a few Colson stands for sale currently. And there is a few people currently with wanted ads for the CWC stand.
Thank you.

Let’s just say that the Colson braced drop stand is probably four to one to every CWC you see come up for sale.

Most likely because, CWC used the braced drop stand in 1936-37 only.

I noticed you have another post asking value on the same. Do you own a Colson or CWC ?

Are you looking to buy or sell a drop stand ?

I'm trying to educate myself.
I suppose I am throwing myself into the market of trying to acquire a cwc drop stand.
No worries.

@fordmike65 suggested it, and I happened to have both loose (the Colson is for sale and the CWC is for my ongoing project).
Pictures are worth a thousand words.... literally... thank you so much @lgrinnings for posting photos. Much easier to identify with the longer/shorter braces. The bolt on/pin style is one thing but the braces...and bottom being flatter...big difference. Thanks
