Drop stand question

Is a Colson drop stand identical or the same as the braced drop stand on a 38-39 CWC bike?

Sort of.
I’m not sure about all years and models, but the Colson braced stand that is similar to the CWC/Roadmaster type, differs in having fixed posts that insert into the dropout plate and are secured with cotter pins.
The CWC type fastens with bolts threaded into the dropout plate.

There are a few Colson stands for sale currently. And there is a few people currently with wanted ads for the CWC stand.

The brace is also welded in a different spot. Its apparent when they are side by side

Let’s just say that the Colson braced drop stand is probably four to one to every CWC you see come up for sale.

Most likely because, CWC used the braced drop stand in 1936-37 only.

I noticed you have another post asking value on the same. Do you own a Colson or CWC ?

Are you looking to buy or sell a drop stand ?

The profile of the CWC drop stand is a little different from the Colson as well. The CWC stand is flatter on the bottom than the Colson.

I'm trying to educate myself.
I suppose I am throwing myself into the market of trying to acquire a cwc drop stand.
