I had a 3 speed Dunelt from 1962 for a while, it even had a dynamo front hub. I was always amused by a beautiful transfer it proudly wore on it frame which stated it was a “genuine English lightweight bicycle” as it weighed a ton! It did however ride like a Cadillac and so was kept around for fun until a guy who was buying an old Honda off me spotted it and offered me more than it cost me for it

Dunelt ( DUNford ELlioT, no really! ) was a maker of motorcycles from the early twenties through to the mid thirties, they made some unusually large two stroke singles as I recall. They tried a comeback after the war making mopeds but really only survived as a bicycle manufacturer. Like so many others they got swallowed up by Raleigh.
