Iver Johnson bikes were not known for their plating holding up. Not very thick. So, hard to tell from pics if things were re-plated.

Great eye on spokes, plus they are interlaced(overlapping) which is not original. Like Fordmike said below..I think wheels are replacement.

I'd say original paint for sure.

Sweet bike either way. Too bad it's not closer.

Could those dimpled rims be replacements? Maybe the whole wheelset has been swapped in? Wouldn't that have an Iver front hub? Maybe not this late.

Would be interesting to see if Date on rear hub
Is anywhere close to a 40 .
May shed a little light on the questions
What era and what are you typically seeing these overlapping spokes on. Later or early wheels. ?
In lew of all the speculation it would nice to pass some solid information onto seller.
He is a great trusting fella .
Dapples in some cool bikes from time to time.
Little more knowledge may keep him motivated to keep them coming.
He’s not scared to buy them when he sees them pop up .
But seems to specialize in premium 1900’s to 1940’s automotive, clothing , toys and 1 off items.
Turned a 3 story 1900’s furniture store into his home / hobby / store.
Garage set up tastefully like a old automobile garage .

After really looking this over I'm inclined to agree with you Mark that the frame and some components-e.g. seat and brakes are original while some/all? parts have probably been re-chromed. For example the crown nut doesn't look like it has sharp edges and has been polished for a re-chrome. Still a really nice bike. V/r Shawn
