Here's the 1964 specs for the American. Note the part number for the bars! Those 64 issues are definitely not the same as the one in my pics or the 50's issue . Can I ask what it is you want these bars for?
Absolutely! I have 2 1954 Jaguar projects that are getting ready to occupy my spare time for a while. The first one is Evan's bike that he has had for sale here on the CABE for a while and the other one is a bike that the owner broke down and started parting out, but I caught him in time. Evan's bike, as you know, needs a correct set and the other bike either needs a replacement or its bars need to be rechromed. I'd rather have an original with modest patina than a rechromed one but I might not have any choice. I should have both bikes in hand in a couple of days. I'll take pictures and I guess I could just go ahead and add them to this thread. I'm really excited about these bikes.
It seems Schwinn used the same part number into the mid 60's. These had a few changes from the 1950's version and those had the pull back at almost a 90 degree angle. After 1955 the bars widened up a little for 1956 with pull back being angled out some. By the 60's the spread was 22.5".

Gary, you won't believe this, but somehow the pictures and the measurements you posted just above completely went through my head...almost like I've got dementia or really bad forgetfulness. I'm really sorry about that. Your dimensions are really what I needed and somehow I forgot. I've had a lot on me lately, sorry. Kit
