I live for the CABE
Check out this early 60s SS. Seller claims it to be a "'62" and in the listing its paired with a ladies '64 varsity. SS came out in '64 as most of us know, but this one is equipped with a huret triple. The bars and stem are throwing me off also as if my memory serves me decently well ive seen the '64s equipped with the titan/maes stem/bars setup same as the early Superiors as well, although, I suppose all that could have been changed out at some point. The brake levers would have been the red dot Weinmann levers as well.

Eric Amlie has showed me a picture of another 64 violet SS with a similar setup in the past. I'm wondering if these are early runs of the SS made up from '62 dated frames?

Anyway, just wanted to share, as this is another of the Schwinn oddities we are always seeing, and what keeps me fascinated with these cool bikes. Feel free to chime in with any thoughts or observations.

Here's another "62 Super Sport" frame set presently sitting on Ebay.

Yup a 1962 Superior with the chromed frame bits and new incorrect decal. Serial is C2XXX. Since that Coppertone SS uses the same serial dating system as the Superior, letter for the month, first number for the year and then what number the frame build was, I'm sure the seller has no idea what year that SS is.

Look Ma, No Hands!
I would guess the coppertone SS is a 65 or 66. The 64 still was using the Titan stem stamped "Super" with the bar sleeve stamped "Sport". I do not see that on this set-up. The front derailleur clamp says "Sprint"... that for sure puts it at a 64 or older, but because of the stem/bar, I think it's a 65 or 66. We know it's not a 67 since it still have the downtube shifters (twin stix came out in 67 for all models). PS - Rear derailleur is obviously a replacement.
The violet bike is definitely a 62 Superior.
