Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
Not many of these models manufactured after WWII as the cantilever framed bikes were
the new 'kings' in the Schwinn catalogs. The BA 107 appeared right after WWII and this is
an early serial, probably a late 46' or 47' frame date. I've seen these bikes as late as 1951..
that was probably the last run.
-----I restored this 'Packard' badged bike some 20+ years ago, pulled out all the stops, locking spring fork with
original key, Drum brake, 6 hole rack, Mesinger Dlx B1 saddle etc. Weathered the last 20 years
quite well despite somewhat damp climate storage in Central Calif. There is some chrome
peppering in some areas, rims and spool of front brake hub, a little on some chrome on the fork.
Overall still looks very good, if I was to keep this bike, I'd leave as-is. That being said some
parts rechromed would make it a 10 again. A very few minor touchups, really have to hunt
the bike over to see them.. Always loved these bikes, so much more scarce than B6's.
Automotive singlestage paint, all chrome, nickel, cad done. Pedals are Torrington 10
reproductions, that's about the only repro stuff on board besides battery tray under
the light lid. Original Typhoon Cord Blackwalls USA not repop anniversary ones.
A thing of beauty as most American balloon bikes from this era were.
