I have one like this and it has cloth covered cable housing and Torrington 10's on it.

Did this piece have painted fenders?

The one above has the early Schwinn brake levers, SS or chrome fenders and a forged stem. I assume the grips and bars could have been changed but the paint color looks like an early 50's Opal Green. It would be nice to see the serial number on this one.

I think Schwinn played games with these. Ole Bob Hope is riding a 46? with bright fenders but the catalog image for that year shows painted. The 48 catalog looks like painted but they don't mention painted or what they are. Is your front fender original, the stays look different than the rear?

This one was up on an auction site in MI recently. I bet it sold for next to nothing. Double locking neck!
