Dayton

On Training Wheels
I just picked up a womens Crescent #4. Does anyone know how to identify the
year? I can only find a 6 or 9 on the bottom bracket.
Any help would be appreciated

Here are a couple pics. I will post some more when I get it cleaned up

I'm sure someone can pin down the year more accurately, but I would say this was built around 1898- 1905 judging from the fame and forks. The slightly earlier model Crescents have distinct lugs where the frame is brazed together, and usually have a crowned fork, also with distinctive patterning. Yours still has the earlier style badge, and earlier type handlebar stem and seat post, so that makes me think it is closer to 1898 or 1900. You will also note that the lower down tube of the bike is curved like the upper one. Earlier model women's Crescents have a straight lower downtube generally. That is a very nice bike you have, can't wait to see it dusted off!
