Finally riding a big boys bike
Okay, I sell a lot of parts on ebay for English 3 speeds, and I've got a Raleigh and Rudge that I'm going to be stripping very soon. I get other makes in as well, but are there any English 3 speed parts that are needed? If it's something I don't have I can usually tell you where to get it :D

I'm keeping half an eye out for a Humber Duplex fork, preferably for a 26" wheel if such a thing exists. Shipping could be problematic, though.

I have a humber style duplex fork on my 37 CCM trades bike.

Do any of you English or CCM sorts know if duplex forkes were used on these bikes or this was an early repair.

Wow...

I was thinking more along the lines of rod brake parts, saddle, and easy things!

Duplex forks are very hard to come by... the only time they ever come up is when an old Humber's scrapped and because of the build quality generally speaking it's unlikely it'll be scrapped... if the frame IS that bad that it's stripped/scrapped then chances are it's because the forks are bent. In terms of history though, I've got a 1914 Humber with duplex forks, and I've seen them recently on a 50's one. It was Humbers trademark which no other brand here did which is why you'd only get them from another Humber.

The stem I can keep a lookout for, I've got one on ebay at the moment, 30's, although it's brand unknown. Item number 330709449063. It didn't come off of a bike (ironically) so I can't tell for certain which brand it is. It came in a box of parts which had some bits from a 30's Hercules which is why I've listed it as that.

Sorry... I was hoping that Rudges were more common on their home turf. Rod brake parts are not easy to find in the US, even the good long, curved brake pads are only available from a few sources.

I've got a ton of rod brake parts that I can sell individually if anyone needs them, I'm not charging silly prices so let me know if there's a certain part you need. Complete sets are available brand new (not from me!) and I can tell you where to buy them in the UK at around $45 for a set and have them shipped to the US. Rod brake pads are available new too and I think are around $8 a pair. The important thing to remember about rod brake sets is that there are two very different types... Raleigh and Phillips. They look identical, but they're in fact very different. As a rule of thumb, Raleigh, BSA and Rudge take Raleigh type, where Phillips, Norman, Sun and Hercules take Phillips.

The irony is that I sold a complete rod brake set on ebay for an absolutely mind blowing $60 a little while back to an American, and I thought why?? For $15 less he could have had a new set! So if you need certain parts let me know, or I can give you three English companies websites, all ship to the US, where you can get a full set from :)

Oh, and Rudge's are kind of common, but still one of the more expensive makes which is why they tend to be restored rather than stripped. I could probably get one for around $100 in restorable condition, but for how specialised the duplex forks are they aren't really worth my time and money when I can get a Raleigh or BSA for half the price

Out of total fluke I actually got given a free Rudge yesterday! Total rustbucket, but it's a late one with standard Raleigh forks rather than duplex...
