Finally riding a big boys bike
I just picked this thing up out of Illinois this morning. It appears to be a Model 40 Columbia made by Pope. Any insight as to exact year? I have been told the seat and seat post are not correct. I am not huge into TOC bikes and prefer balloon tire so this is out of my realm of expertise. Thanks for the insight, advice, info, etc. Any info regarding the bike in general is also welcomed. 1896?

Bike is currently located in St Louis MO.

Also, the saddle is late 20's, probably the seat post also.

The front fork looks like it is bent

It is a great old bike. Congratulations.

Nice bike. From what I was told by Bill Smith is that model 40 was made in 1895 and 96. So that is what the block chain is supposed to look like.
