Fender light cover repair ideas?

-
The seventh bullet in the Key Features says that it can be painted, powder coated, PLATED, shaped, built up, and polished. There used to be a video of Muggy Weld being used to fix a crack in a pot metal headlight door. It then went on to show all of the steps up to and including chrome plating.
Someone should give it a try. If it works and is user friendly it would be a great restoration tool

At $54-$99 plus shipping/handling/tax (plus flux?)as shown in the link above, methinks it would be an economical fix only for items that could not be replaced for more than the price of the supplies unless sentimentality or orginality of the item was most important.....and you would still have a repaired part that might need replating or could break again if you didn't do it right.............just saying.
