Many years ago, Eb Dawson suggested that if one were to slightly modify a new reproduction 1958 - 1963 Volkswagen Beetle front turn signal assembly, one could make an outta-sight, too cool, fender light.

Reproduction ancient VW parts were once available from a huge number of suppliers at incredibly inexpensive prices, such as from Warshafsky & Co, and JC Whitney and hundreds of mostly west coast, Calif parts suppliers that took out full page ads in monthly magazines like VW Trends and Dune Buggies & HOT VW's and Volkswagen WORLD.
This link below might not be the Lowest available pricing on this particular repro '58-'63 turn signal assembly but evidenced that this part is in the twenty something dollar range does lead me to believe that such ancient Volkswagen new reproduction parts are still likely extremely inexpensive & affordable and widely available.

The housing size would seem to fit well on many bikes and you have a CLEAR LENS on this particular 1958-1963 VW turn signal assembly. You obviously would not use the pigtail wiring harness that comes off the bottom of the assembly as it is not essential when converted to a battery operated bicycle fender light with a simple on/off switch. That pigtail would also get in the way if you did try to keep it since it is way to bulky for use on a bicycle. You would want to incorporate some type of bright flashlight(torch for those of you across the pond) LED light bulb set up within the housing so you could get excellent bicycle lighting and very long battery life out of a CR2032 button cell battery or a couple of AA batteries if not something of a set up with rechargeable 5.0 v USB port capable thing. Heck, the battery power would be simple as you are simply building a flash light within the VW TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLY housing.
Years ago when Eb Dawson built the first one and installed it on his Rollfast, there were no LED bulbs, and you needed to use two D Cells to power the flashlight bulb, and still the batteries didn't last too long because that was before Alkaline Energizer & Duracell batteries came to market. The old basic Nine Lives, D cells were more than nine times worse than the Energizer & Duracell alkaline D batteries of the 1980's and ten times worse than those from 2021.
