Cruisin' on my Bluebird
1937/38 Elgin Oriole
Up for sale is the last of my non CWC bicycles.
This is a West field built Elgin Oriole that does not have the zerg fittings as the earlier ones did. I believe they were most likely fazed out by this point of production.
It is an original paint bike with the fork being replaced (before my ownership) with the correct unit, however in a slightly different patina fade/shade.
It has the correct Elgin rims and hubs that are in very nice original chrome with some slight peppering. The bike also rolls on a very nice set of Sears Allstate Premium WW tires.
The chain guard, cranks, and sprocket have been re chromed. The fender braces and drop stand have also been cad plated.
This bike has the very hard to find set of aluminum fenders in excellent condition as well as a nice set of cross brace bars and Elgin style grips. The seat is a Bob U restored button Troxel with the skirts and seat stamp present.
The bottom bracket had a hairline crack at the seat mast that was professionally brazed and is very solid and well done. The area was primed.
I like the graceful lines of this bike and prefer it with no accessory. However, I do have two racks to choose from that can be negotiated in the price. Also, I have the original Elgin stem that can be replaced for the Torrington Bevlock stem that I installed.
A set of Torrington pedals will also be included.
Overall a very nice bike that has been fully serviced and dialed in and is one of my smoothest riding bikes. I hate to see it go but I have Vintage VW bus priorities that have motivated me to sell off some bikes.
Looking for $1100.00 Preferably local sale but will ship at buyers expense.
Racks are separate and not included in price.
