So I bought this atlas x-type bike because I liked the alloy wheels, only problem is the axle is a 3/8 that is too big to fit the fork on my Schwinn. Is there a way to convert the axle of the rim to a 5/16? Thanks.
Probably not - the axle cone's diameter/bearing radius is matched to the size of the cup in the hub itself, and the cups are bigger because the axle's diameter is larger. It would take some bike shop magic to find the right combination, assuming it even exists.
put a wrench on the left lock nut and grip it along with a spoke or few to hold the axle in place while filing the right side.
or the opposite if left handed
