I put a long board through the forks instead of the pipe wrench, this doesn’t mark up the the forks with wrench teeth marks. Another help is to pour muriatic acid into the fork tube hole, the stuff you buy for swimming pool water treatment, the acid removes rust pretty fast in a bubbly yellow fume making mess, but it works. Doing it out doors, rubber gloves, and goggles. clean up with baking soda and water and soap and carry on. I had to do a stick seat post awhile back, that was the hardest I’ve had to work because there was only 2” of stem to grab onto, two days of minor movements and many coats of PB blaster and I finally worked it up and out using a pipe wrench. I do wish people would not leave cool bikes out in the rain.
I also use wood in my vise so as not to mark up the neck with vise teeth marks.
