On Training Wheels
I am posting this for the non-profit bike shop where I volunteer, in Alameda, CA. Vintage 3-speeds are a bit outside my area of expertise. I will try to answer questions, but enquiries should be directed to Changing Gears. Contact information listed on the website link below.
Blue Schwinn 3-Speed Racer – 1959 -- all original, except where noted below. -- $350
Serial # H924739
This bicycle was carefully dismantled, and components were wrapped individually in brown paper and stored for decades. It was recently re-assembled and over-hauled.
Super clean!! Pictures say it all.
Paint, decals, and chrome are original, and in excellent condition. All parts – handlebars, hand grips, brake levers, shifter lever, cables, wheels, fenders, cranks, pedals, chain, seat -- are original and in excellent condition, except for the following:
-- Original Schwinn tires (included in sale) have developed flat spots from storage (see photo) and have been replaced by NOS “Carlisle Ribgripper” 26x1 3/8 tires with tan sidewalls.
-- 3-Speed Hub, needs repair. Currently does not shift.
-- Front and Rear Lights/Friction Generator – currently do not work.
-- Original Chainguard is missing. Replacement chainguard has been supplied (see photos).
-- Also included: vintage replacement inner tube. NOS.
