'Lil Knee Scuffer
18 1/2" lugged frame with Reynolds 501 tubing. Shimano derailleurs with Suntour thumb shifters. Mafac cantilever brakes and DiaCompe MC style brake levers. Sugino GT triple cranks, Suzue sealed bearing hubs. Relaxed, ride-all-day geometry. Originally sold by Stone's Cyclery in Alameda, California. Some slight patina on decals, but very minor for a 37 year old bike! Please study the pictures carefully! Many pictures here:

Thanks J. It would be interesting to know how it came to be bought. Was it built up from an imported frame? Dennis Stone (RIP) brought in all sorts of neat frames through his tiny but super cool shop. Nothing on the bike seems very British, so I bet he built it with USA-centric components. Of course in 1985, mountain bikes were still evolving, so this is a kinda neat snapshot of that time.
 
That’s all good Japanese selection on there now and period correct. If anyone knows of a better thumb shifter than Suntour power ratchet I’d love to know of it, maybe sub-zero temperature would freeze the metal? God help us in the plastic era, garbage…
