I'm Afraid I Can't Let You Do That

Crazy handlebars that are made of spring steel, encased in flexible rubber/plastic. The center piece for clamping into the stem is missing, but seems to me you could slot a piece of bar stock and be good to go if you want to use them. There is a slight twist to them, so they dont lay flat on the table, but I don't imagine you'd notice this when they are installed. I'm sure they were this way since new, as how would you ever put an accidental bend in spring steel? There is some yellowing to the left side for some reason, and it doesn't clean off with Simplegreen, so may be permanent. Also typical shelf wear as you might expect. The scan of the 1951 ad is from Zaz Von Schwinn on Flickr.
