Goofy Schwinn builds and parts in ads or old photos or real life
Found this recently...reverse paint scheme sort of ...it does not seem to follow the paint jobs I've seen over the years with regard to the opposing colors . Check out the fender light cover/ fender and tank/frame dart around the tank not contrasting.
I like it ...just not use to this look.
Good morning Caber’s!
I’ve been putting together a 24” dx rat bike. One of my buddies asked me what year it was. I assumed it was either a 52 or 53. The vin is stamped on the left drop out and that started in 1952. The last year of the dx frame was 1953. So I was a bit surprised to find a February of 1954 vin number as well as another stamp mark I haven’t seen before. What gives? Vin number is L09387. Any thoughts?
I agree with you. It does appear to be a San Jose marking cave members. Anybody else have any other markings we’re still trying to document the different cities and the symbols are used

Your frame started out as a Hornet or a Spitfire. During this period Schwinn used the DX style frame on the 24" and 20" models where big brother was a straight bar. This practice continued on at least thru 1955.
I must have looked at this a million times and never noticed that tank has gills/louvers but no horn unit??
Also the pinstripes connect at underside of the down tube?
