I have the same thing in one of my early bikes. I can’t seem to remember which one though.

With as chewed up as the cups are do ya think it’s one of the ball bearings?

Truss rods, paint, seat, and grips look a little earlier than 54 to me. Would be curious to see serial on that one.

Cups are fine....that be grease overkill

Found in a 75 Schwinn Reporter. Just thought this belonged here since the bike was part of the Schwinn Collection at some point.

Think Schwinn updated the decals with some inspiration from a Trim line tank? Or did someone "restore" the bike before it made it to their collection in 75?

Makes me wonder if there was ever a list of the bikes that made it into that special collection that may have had some other unknown oddities(intentional or not).

Hmmm 1941 chainguard? Painted white fender braces? No fender ornament? No floating saddle? Strange mead Ranger right here...oh and no chrome ranger type fork??

Compare to last 1941 unrestored ranger...it's a tad different
