I'm thinking these are pre 1900. The mens bike has a later set of Giant Chains while the girls has orignal? red Hedgethorn tires. Both bikes seem to be in fairly remarkable condition as well. V/r Shawn
Thanks I'm not familiar with these enough to know but the mens front brake does appear to be a foot operated brake. We are trying to do a little more research to see what the value of these are. If anyone can tell me anything on the lamps I would appreciate it. BTW the pump on the boys bike is a Bridgeport. V/r Shawn
@Freqman1 I do not know for sure if your Ramblers are 1896 but they sure do look exactly like the catalog images I have provided below. Men's bike looks like catalog image for #15 Men's Light Roadster right down to the front foot brake. Woman's bike looks like catalog image for Model G Ladies Roadster but your bike appears to be missing the chain-guard and fender and seat frame is badly bent. Craig Allen is correct, "Look inside the seat tube for the manufacturer's i.d. tag, it will tell you the exact month and year it was made."
I believe both bikes are 1897--girls is for sure I pulled the tag out of the seat tube. The mens is a Model 16 which I'm pretty sure is a '97. There was no tag in the mens seat tube. I'm about to list these and will probably throw up about 60-70 pics. V/r Shawn
