I am restringing my wife’s chain guard on her 1897 safety. I just bought a new Stutzmans wheel shop bent wood chain guard. I need recommendations on the best period looking string to use to restring it.

Maybe some old natural fiber fishing line?

Might smell fishy though.

Mini Blind Cord works fairly well. So does bakers twine. Comes in a variety of colors and sold many places including Amazon.

I use hemp cord -it has a nice period look to it and comes in really subdued colors and works easy and holds a not --and a daub of clear varnish sets it .
