Why don't the "LIGHTNING DARTS" have the Indian heads on them? I've seen them with & without. Why?

It's no longer politically correct! Just kidding.

It's a tire size with a confusing number of different names. Schwinn called it "S4", but it existed in Britain and France before that. The British called it 26 x 1 1/2 for use on mid-sized rod brake roadsters usually, and the French called it 650b or "demi-balloon" and used it on cargo and heavier touring bikes. It's a great tire size but the melange of names makes it kind of confusing sometimes.

it is confusing.
26 x 1-1/2 = 650b = 27.5 = S-4 . They are all the same ISO - rim diameter .
Some of the early British bikes used this same size also - 650b

the Schwinn Welterweight (1953 ish) used this tire .

I think the last run of the Darts...or most recent mfg were with no heads... same tire just no heads...also made in USA

The non-Indian Head tires still say Made in USA! not China or Taiwan. Just without the Indian on them. No doubt newer tire. Bob U said the very same thing.

So they went PC back in the day before it was even a thing. Carlisle hasn’t made tires in the US since 81.

Got me but the last batch with no Indian head still say Made in USA ...
