Harley Front Fender Question

Ok here's one that's bugg'n me. I see this little 'button' on the front fender of HD bikes behind the fork crown and wonder what it is for? Also I would like to know what it looks like off the fender. Does it have a threaded shank? Rivet? I don't recall seeing this on other Davis built bikes. If anyone has an extra I need it. It is riveted, it is to keep the front fender in the correct position. Typical on Chiefs.

This nipple is on ALL Davis sewing machine fenders-shallow or drop side fenders. It does not come off. It hugs up to the backside of the fork like oddball said to hold position. No threads.
