Has anyone ever seen an actual 1981 Schwinn 7-Eleven team bike?

A level playing field of dopers....yeah that's saying something. Certainly not anything worthwhile. And the competitors that didn't dope, how will history regard them then; clueless, stupid, naive, Luddites?

Kevin
If you've spent your whole career working towards one goal, and doping may give you an edge, and your competitors are probably already doing it, what are you going to do? In sports, second place is just the first loser.

Like someone else already said doping or some use of performance enhancers have been used in bicycle racing since the turn of the previous century. So get upset if you want to but that’s just how it was.

Even if most competitors were doping and a blind eye was turned, there remains the fact that the public was deceived at large. Then there was the tarring and attempts to silence Greg Lamond, which exacerbate the record of lying and cover-up. I'm sure Armstrong was a very talented rider and doping was much wider spread than was ever admitted, but it's the rank dishonesty and willful deception of the public that clouds the whole thing in my view.

How Greg Lemond used an unfair advantage to win the 1989 Tour de France.

I have no problem with how Greg won that race, but I do think it’s a bit disingenuous to cry foul about every other competitor that has had questions asked about their performance.
He and his team, knowingly cheated by using an unfair advantage under the guise of having a bad back.
Laurent Fignon protested the use of the Tri Bar, but the officials didn’t seem too worried about it, since it didn’t involve pharmaceuticals.

Becoming more aerodynamic is hardly cheating , unless there’s specific rules and parameters for equipment like nascar or formula one one whatever

I like how the media had this big story about how he made a great comeback and the foundation, and the big deal. Then the truth about the horse smack and all the riders taking it in. Who knows what that stuff does long term to a guy. Then the media slinks away when the bad news comes down... like they were never wrong. Sort of like how our president is the "most qualified" guy in office ever... then something goes wrong and it's time to get everyone to look the other way.
