Hawthorne Question about color

Is this Purple a real color or paint over. It looks to be factory. Have you ever seen one this color or did Elvis have it made and I'm a lucky guy. Here is some pics I think 1950 Deluxe. I have never seen something this color that old. Thanks for any knowledge on this color.

I found the serial number on the down tube it is E227971 Not sure what that is under the BB

cool color, my guess is it's the "Brilliant Red" shown in the 1950s catalog, cheap at twice the price, you should pick one up:

I have one, but still does not have red any where just this purple under the dirt. I am stumped.

I have this Hawthorne which I believe is also a 1950 model. It didn’t photograph particularly well but it definitely is more purple than red. Bought it from the son of the original owner. Was not a repaint. I’ve seen this color before on similar Hawthornes.

I have one that color too, stamped '05 SN', making it a '50. Your partial stamp looks the same. Hawthornes in particular had unusual colors around that time; there are a few in the Evolution books, red & gray, tans, etc.
