That is because Schwinn never made a Heavy Duti with a freewheel hub and hand brakes! They were all single speed coaster brakes!

I need a looong seatpost for me to be comfy on an HD. Had this layback and a nine-spring saddle.

Tore the front wheel down and tried my first shot at de-rusting with Oxalic Acid.

Back to work tomorrow.

Dang. Hubs are alloy, sprokes are SS about 2.45mm.

Correction: hubs are poorly chromed steel.

Oddly enough, with the exception of the headset [not crunchy but verrrry tight] everything spins nicely.
Someone bothered to apply grease rather recently. Bless you.
