'Lil Knee Scuffer
Hi everybody, my name is Gaston. I recently bought this loop frame bicycle. I guess it is an Armstrong bicycle (its stamped on the handlebars and on the rod brakes). Have the number 47347 on the seat post binder. The bottom bracket, 18tooth freewheel and hubs (32 holes in the front and 40 holes in the rear) are Bayliss Wiley. Both wheels are 26 x 1⅜. I don't know which is the saddle trade mark. Can anyone give me information about the bicycle? (Year, saddle model, everything you can tell me)

Hola, and welcome to The Cabe Gaston.
Nice find and it looks to be in good condition for its age.
I think this Armstrong could be from the 1930's or 1940's, as I don't believe Armstrong made a ladies loop-frame design in the 1950's. It's certainly not shown in their 1951 catalogue.
Here is an image from the 1936 catalogue, showing the two loop-frame models available.....

...I think yours may be the top shown example as the lower version is a 3-speed model.
It looks like you may be only missing the enclosed chainguard.

The 1936 catalogue cover also shows the same design for "Armstrong" that appears on your handlebars.....

...a loop-frame model was still available in the 1939/40 catalogue.....

...but possibly loop-frames weren't available postwar.

Here's the image of the logo from 1939/40.....

As to your saddle, it's a "mattress" type, possibly made by Brooks, Terry's, or possibly another manufacturer. The catalogue descriptions (above) unfortunately don't name a manufacturer.
Several companies offered this style of saddle at the time.
Here's an image of Brooks 'mattress' offerings from 1935, this should give you an idea of what you're looking for.....

...I hope this helps, good luck with the project!

Yes, it does have the look of 1930s-40s bike to me as well. I couldn't pinpoint a year based on what is shown, but I think your guess is pretty good.

Hi Dnc1, thank you so much for all the information. I found a suppose "1930" Armstrong catalogue, and i found that maybe is a "Junior Model" as the wheels are 26 inches. The ladies´ model M, its says 28 inches wheels. Perhaps i can measure the frame, to know if its 20 inches frame (26 inches wheel) or 22-24 inches frame (28 inches wheel).
The saddle seams to be a Brooks Suplex S20N, i count 8 longs springs on the rear part, and 5 shorter on the front.
As you said, the enclosed chainguard is missing, i only have a metal ring with a screw, i guess its the one to attach it to frame.
Now i have to look for the front badge
Thank you so much Dnc1

P/s: do you know if is any serial number registry in order to place the number of my cycle and discover the year?

You're welcome @skunky26.
I suppose it could be a junior/girls model.
Here's the image from the 1936 catalogue of the girls model.....

...I'm not aware of any serial number register, but I can contact the Armstrong Marque Enthusiast at the V-CC (Veteran-Cycle Club) here in the UK and see if he has any ideas on the year. He may be able to help.

In all honesty, utility bicycles from this era remained unchanged, often for decades.

Hi again.
The frame size is basically the measurement from the centre of the bottom bracket (crank) axle to the top of the frame seat tube.
From here to here....
