Alan E. Pierce

'Lil Knee Scuffer
Need help identifying my tandem. Has hand stamped 4 digit serial number 1266. Chater Lea and Williams bottor brackets and crank. Brown seats or what is left of them components. Was in pieced when I picked it up. Front fork was chrome. Has two Terry's tennis racket clips. Has cantilever breaks, break pad is about 3" long with two bolts to attach to cantilever. The wheels front and back have drum brakes. Wheel rim is stamped with 26 x 1 3/8 Dunlop 26 x 1 3/8 made in England. I have no knowledge of vintage or antique bicycles. Called shop that advertise antique bike specialists. Bicycle Museum of America. Emailed Bells England because they
restored a Hetchins tandem from the 30's that is almost identical except for the lugs. Emailed Chayel Lea but no reply.. No other search came as close as the Hetchins Any help would be thankful. Mike of Antque Archiology is interested in it and asked me how much I want. Have no idea what it is. Want to see it restored, would love to restore it but depending on available parts cost I might let it go to someone with the network of people to do so. Would love to ride at least once completely restored then let it go to a good home.
Thank you all for your help.

The wheels and pedals did not start out life with that tandem frame and fork. It is a late 19th century tandem. As stated, and overall image of the frame is needed.
There are brass grease fittings locates were any ball-bearings are. Found a seat badge with fasteners holes the same as the leather, " Wrights " Anything with ball-bearings is Chater Lea and brackets are to. Williams crank sprockets have the same logo.

It has Pierce characteristics, but… these pictures. Again it could be from 1890’s; but it could be English with a later remodel. If American that English gear got added when the bicycle was remodeled decades later. Please take a straight side view. Place bike flat against wall. Get in the center down one you knees a shoot that view. Also remove the rear wheel and take a picture of the slot area where the axles go into the bike. Also the area where the front axle goes on the fork (without the wheel). Some more of the fork crown will help as well.

Are there any tiny holes or broken off rivets or screws on the headtube where a badge would be mounted? These could be filled in with paint or putty. Look close and take pictures of that area.
