On Training Wheels
Hi all - would appreciate any help in identifying the frame on this bicycle. I acquired it years ago (it was built by the owner before me) and *thought* it to be a Sears Elgin but would like to get a bit more detail. Any ideas?

I have an Elgin with an SD in the serial number and it's been identified as a 1939. I also have an Elgin with an SE in the Serial number and it's been identified as a 1940. Stands to reason that an SC would be a 1938.

Built by Murray of Ohio, sold by Sears Roebuck, branded as Elgin. Can't tell for sure, but it appears to have been an Oriole.

The first few years of Murray don't have the "MO" of later years. And the Sears bikes had an 'S' right from the beginning, later expanded to "MOS-".
