On Training Wheels
Picked up this Schwinn. Tires are 20" Serial number is A011346. Serial number indicates January 1960, however bike looks like a sting-ray. Sting Ray's did not come out till 63. I can't decipher the words on chain guard, too much missing. The 1960 catalog was no help.
If anyone can tell me more about this it would be much appreciated Thanks

Looks like the name starts with an S. That gives one three model choices, Skipper, Spitfire and Speedster. All three were available in Red, but only the Speedster came in the candy Radiant Red with no white painted trim on the frame. The Speedster was also the only one of the three that had Chrome rims. Must be a Speedster. I do question the 1961 + fork dart, so maybe the fork has been replaced. There should be a date stamped on the inside of the left leg just above the axle slot.
